ABOUT OUR CHURCH
The Bible
The Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is the infallible, inerrant, and inspired Word of the living God. It is His revelation to us and therefore carries the authority and to which we are to listen and submit (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).
The Trinity
We believe the Bible teaches there is one God who is in unity of three distinct yet fully divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the same in substance, equal in power and glory (Deuteronomy 6: 4; Matthew 3: 16-17; 28: 19).
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% Man, having two natures inseparably in one Divine Person but without mixture or division. In the incarnation, Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, was crucified, dead, and buried, was raised on the third day, ascended to Heaven, and will return in glory and judgment. He is the only Mediator between God and man (The Apostles’ Creed, The Nicene Creed; 1 Timothy 2: 5).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son. He does the work of regeneration and sanctification of the believers (John 14: 17, 20; 16: 7-11).
Creation
God spoke His word and the Heavens and the earth came into existence. He continues to sustain and governs all His creatures and all their actions according to the pleasure of His most Holy and wise will (Genesis 1: 1-31; Ephesians 1: 11).
Man
God created man, both male and female, in His own image. Adam sinned, and so humanity became estranged from their Creator, so deserving death both physical and spiritual as the consequence for sin (Genesis 3; Romans 3: 23; 6: 23).
Redemption
Because all have sinned, man needs redemption to be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ has redeemed His people through His substitutionary atoning death on the cross. Those who believe and trust in Christ’s sacrificial death alone, repent of their sins are forgiven and are imputed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ (Romans 6: 23; 2 Corinthians 5: 21).
The Church
Christ gave His life for the church (visible). Harbor of Grace Church is called to rely in the power of the Holy Spirit and His Word in order to preach the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, administering the sacraments of baptism/Lord’s Supper, and exercising church discipline
(2 Timothy 2: 15; 4: 2; 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26; Matthew 18: 15-20).
